PhD in Physics

The PhD in Physics at the University of Messina focuses his teaching and scientific activity on four activated curricula and has the aim of providing a satisfactory degree of competence and professionalism in the field of the Structure of Matter, Nuclear Physics, Applied Physics to Cultural Heritage and Applied Physics to Environmental Heritage.

It is based for its operation on equipments and laboratories offered by the Physics Department of  and the Matter Physics and Electronic Engineering Department and from National Research Bodies.

 

 

 

Educational Objectives

Educational objectives are primarily related to the need to provide to PhD students the tools they need to perform, according to high quality standards, their doctorate thesis, closely linked to research main themes improved planted at Messina Headquarters and two proponent Physics Departments, and also to complete the training of physicists designed to get into high-level production and / or training processes of the Country.


Therefore the grouping of the modules in curricula obeys to the aforesaid service approach to research activities in which the individual  Ph.D. student – to which at the beginning of the doctorate it is required to choose the internal curriculum to which they are going to attend - will presumably be involved during the doctorate thesis . The choice of the latter is nonetheless required and formalized by the College of Teachers only at the end of the first year of PhD, to allow the post-graduate student, during the first year of study, to mature consciously his choice even on the basis of what the PhD student learned during just carried out activities.
