Organisation and Information
On Monday 14 September 2009 the works of the 9th EASR Conference will commence in the Main Hall of Messina University in Piazza S. Pugliatti, at 10 am.
The reception desks will be open from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m. in the main entrance to the University, where delegates can register, pay their attendance fee and collect their conference pack. On following days, there will be a desk where delegates can ask for information and make late registrations in the Sala Mostre of the Faculty of Letters at the Annunziata campus, where the works of the Conference will continue on 15-17 September.
The Keynote speeches will last 40 minutes, while the other talks will last 20 minutes.
In giving our heartfelt thanks to our colleagues for their papers, I would like to ask them to strictly observe these time limits, so that the programme can proceed according to the established schedule.
If a speaker is absent, the time scheduled for his/her talk may be used at the discretion of the Chairman of the relative panel or session for discussion, without bringing forward the presentation of the other papers. In no event may the order of the talks specified in the Programme be changed, in order to ensure that each participant can attend their chosen sessions.
In order to facilitate arrival at the Faculty of Letters at the Annunziata campus, buses will be made available on 15-17 September for the exclusive use of the delegates. The timetables and collection points will posted on the website in good time.
Alternatively, the Faculty can be reached by public transport (Tram no. 28 or bus no. 45). A taxi service is also available (tel. 090. 6505).
Lunch on 15-17 September has been booked at the university canteen adjacent to the Faculty, in two sittings (at 1 p.m. and 1.30 p.m.). We request that delegates observe the utmost punctuality in arriving for their sitting (specified on the individual tickets), in order to allow the service to run smoothly, considering the large number of participants.
A list of restaurants, pubs and snack bars where participants can dine will soon be posted on the website. The city also offers a wide variety of bars and patisseries where visitors can enjoy local specialities.
As previously announced, on 15 September at 9 p.m., the following play will be performed in the Sala Laudamo of Teatro Vittorio Emanuele (access from Via Garibaldi or from Corso Cavour) "The Endless Column", by Mircea Eliade. Entrance for Conference delegates will be free of charge. Since only 150 seats are available, please make sure you book in good time.
Any further events will be announced on the website.
The secretary’s office will be happy to reply to any queries of an organisational nature throughout July and will open again in the last week of August.
With our very best regards, and looking forward to seeing you soon,
The Organising Committee and the Secretary’s Office.
