The nearest airport to Messina is Reggio Calabria airport, "Tito Minniti."
If you land in Reggio Calabria, when leaving the baggage reclaim area, you will find the exit to the airport right in front. There, you will find a small "Sogas" free shuttle bus that takes you to a nearby pier where you can board a fast boat (nave veloce) to Messina. Tickets are sold on board. The journey takes around 35 minutes and it is the fastest, most pleasant way to reach Messina.
The fast boat will take you to Messina port, which practically in the city center.
Alternatively, from Reggio airport you can take the bus, which is operated by Federico Company; the last stop is Messina bus terminal, which is close to the train station. Tickets are sold on board.
Alternatively, you may fly to Catania Airport "Fontana Rossa" (which has more International connections). Leaving the arrivals building, on the right side from the airport's exit, you can find the bus stop of SAIS .
